McMeel Family Faculty Institute on Service Learning

     
    The McMeel Faculty Institute on Service Learning provides support to faculty to redesign their syllabi and courses to incorporate a service-learning model.  McMeel Faculty Fellows commit to teach at least one course with a service learning component. Faculty Fellows receive an $800 stipend as well as technical assistance and peer mentoring.  Faculty Fellows will contribute to service learning at Rockhurst through their engagement in compelling and stimulating community-based learning experiences, and by disseminating that knowledge to their colleagues.  Applications are due April 3, 2023.

    Those who receive the fellowship commit to the following:
    • Design or redesign at least one course to incorporate required service-learning experiences for students that are compelling and stimulating and meet both community priorities and course learning objectives
    • Partner will at least one community-based organization
    • implement service learning in at least one course
    • Mentor future group of McMeel Faculty Fellows
    • Summary report and share results of service-learning projects
